The Accounting Officer (Specialist) is responsible for performing professional accounting duties, which requires an understanding of the entire accounting process. The incumbent will provide support to the Fiscal Systems Unit (FSU) in areas such as the maintenance and operation of the Department of Developmental Services’ (DDS) California State Accounting and Reporting System [Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal)] for Headquarters, Developmental Centers and State-Operated Facilities.
This position is eligible to participate in DDS’ hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS’ guidelines.

Open-spaced partitioned office, Computer will be used daily approximately 60%-70% of the time on the FI$Cal Accounting System and various software applications (i.e., Microsoft Excel and Word). Must be able to use various office machines: computer, copier, scanner, etc. During peak times including year-end processing, request for leave will be limited and approved on a case-by-case basis. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and may require excess hours to be worked. Work pre-approved overtime when necessary to meet deadlines.
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than two pages in length. Applicants who fail to answer the questions or submit an SOQ may not be considered.
