Job Description Summary
Miami University’s Department of Accountancy prioritizes the educational experience we provide students and is consistently ranked among the top 25 accounting programs nationally. ACC 221 (Introduction to Financial Accounting) and ACC 222 (Introduction to Managerial Accounting) are Farmer School of Business (FSB) core courses taken by all FSB students. These courses help form the foundational accountancy knowledge all students need in their subsequent coursework. The Deloitte Introductory Accountancy Course Coordinator will assist the ACC 221 and ACC 222 lead instructors in administrative tasks and student support, and be part of the team that helps continually improve students’ learning outcomes and educational experiences in these courses.
Job Description
The Deloitte Introductory Accountancy Course Coordinator (hereafter, Course Coordinator) assists in the administration of ACC 221 and ACC 222. The Course Coordinator’s job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks.
Train and manage Master of Accountancy Graduate Assistants (GAs) who assist the lead instructors, hold office hours, help with grading, proctor quizzes/exams, and lead lab sessions.
When appropriate, read and respond to student emails that can include but are not limited to questions about course policies, extra credit opportunities, and accommodations. The Course Coordinator is not responsible for replying to student emails with questions about course content, which are answered by GAs and lead instructors. The Course Coordinator often needs to respond to emails outside of standard 8-5 working hours due to students’ schedule.
Help maintain each course’s website, including but not limited to managing extra credit events and points, announcements, and attendance.
Hold up to five hours of in-person and virtual office hours per week, as needed.
Coordinate with lead instructors and students to ensure that any students with legally-mandated accommodations receive the appropriate support.

Required: Bachelor's Degree.
Consideration may be given to applicants with a Business major; professional accounting experience; teaching experience; strong organizational and planning skills; desire and ability to work with early-stage college students.

Miami University recognizes that technology enables us to find new ways of providing first class service and workplace flexibility. This position is approved for remote work on a hybrid basis following a successful period of on-boarding. Remote work is a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason. Incumbent who fills the role will generally be expected to be on campus two days per week, but with exceptions allowed. The remainder of the job can be performed remotely, with occasional exceptions.
