Brief Summary of Work for this Position: Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement, the Division Business Officer serves as chief human resources and business officer of the University Advancement Division and functions as the divisions liaison with the budget, purchasing, accounting, human resources offices and staff, as well as other areas of campus as needed. The Division Business Officer attends and represents University Advancement at various campus meetings, providing feedback and/or recommendations on behalf of the division, as well as interpreting and disseminating existing and new university and state policies and procedures related to these areas.
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with human resources policies and procedures, initiating, monitoring, and resolving human resource matters associated with hiring, reclassifying, and compensating all division personnel, and identifying funding sources. The Division Business Officer interprets, analyzes, and forecasts data needed to make strategic financial decisions regarding the divisions multifaceted funding sources, assists leaders in the preparation, tracking, and analysis of departmental unit budgets, and manages day-to-day and fiscal year-end budget maintenance and control activities, enabling staff to support the divisions strategic goal of increasing financial support for prioritized university programs and activities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelors degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area and three years of administrative management or business management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience: - UNC System campus experience as a Business Officer or similar position.
- Ability to prioritize, manage and sucessfully complete multiple tasks.
- Ability to succinctly present complex issues to a variety of constituents.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office products, especially proficient in Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP software such as Banner.
- Demonstrated experience with Works, ChromeRiver, PeopleAdmin and other related software.
- Ability to interpret and manage complex business processes, including resource allocation, budget management, and personnel management.
- Experience with budget development.
- Ability to identify and convene stakeholder to ensure input and seek consensus on complex issues.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with evidence of building collegial relationships.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Division for University Advancement is responsible for the following primary goals:Coordinate a campus-wide, comprehensive effort to raise philanthropic funds that support the strategic plan and mission of the university.Manage an inclusive alumni engagement program designed to serve and engage over 100,000 alumni as ambassadors, advocates and donors.Strengthen and expand UNCWs donor pipeline through effective discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.Ensure that external boards (UNCW Foundation Board, Board of Visitors, Student Aid Association Board, Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Friends of UNCW) are effective in their mission of supporting UNCW.The divisions fundraising efforts are enhanced by effective partnerships with the campus community as well as external constituents including alumni, parents, corporations, foundations, volunteers and friends. Development areas include annual giving, leadership annual giving, major gifts, principal gifts, corporate and foundation engagement and planned giving, as well as alumni engagement. Prospect development, events and board management, stewardship, communications and advancement services are support services for the fundraising activities of the division.
