Position: Estimator
Reports to: Chief Estimator
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will professionally prepare complete and thorough estimates for trades, including all subcontracts and equipment pricing, bringing these estimates to the point of review by Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimate Preparation: Develop and implement an estimate plan for assigned projects following company procedures.
Task Utilization: Use the task list to effectively implement the estimate plan.
Problem Analysis: Review and analyze take-off conditions and document interpretations, providing analyses to the Manager for guidance.
Take-Off Execution: Perform take-offs with speed and accuracy, adhering to company procedures.
Vendor Coordination: Initiate and manage contact with subcontractors and equipment vendors as required.
Communication: Prepare, coordinate, and convey project-related instructions, information, questions, and clarifications between management and various vendor/subcontract groups.
Issue Notification: Notify the manager of irregularities in vendor/subcontract quotations and unusual labor situations.
Scope Change Analysis: Effectively analyze changes in scope to provide estimates that maximize profit potential.
Document Review: Review all document scope and take-off inconsistencies, providing direction to the estimating department in line with company procedures.
Estimate Review: Ensure accuracy and completeness by reviewing the estimate prior to bid wrap-up.
Procedure Development: Develop, implement, and review take-off procedures for non-standard work.
Verification: Ensure that only the work shown on documents or instructed by the Manager is included in the take-off. Document all take-off assumptions and explain them to the supervisor.
Cost Control Tools: Prepare estimates that can be used as cost control and management tools by operating personnel.
Decision Making: Make quick and effective decisions to resolve issues.
Additional Tasks: Complete other assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Updates: Update trade take-offs as needed throughout the bidding process and provide complete prints to the chief/lead estimator for incorporation into the bid.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in estimating within the construction industry.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in relevant estimating software and tools.
