Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for general oversight and administration of the fitness center operations, in addition to developing, implementing, and managing sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for 26 Division III intercollegiate athletic teams, as well as providing general fitness and wellness programs for the campus community. Our Athletic teams participate in the highly competitive Centennial Conference at the NCAA Division III level. This person must possess one of two certifications, which are consistent with NCCA accreditation; the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and/or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) strength and conditioning coach certified (SCCC).

Specific Responsibilities :

• Oversee/monitor the Fitness Center (FC)
• Design and provide training for student-athletes related to speed, agility, and strength training
• Plan an equitable training schedule for the entire UC athletic department
• Maintain constant contact with head coaches and accessory staff to discuss all the updates and needs of each team
• Oversee budget/equipment maintenance and rotation of leased equipment
• Hire, manage, and oversee assistant staff and student workers
• Design policies and procedures for efficiency of fitness center operation as well as user friendly guidelines for the Ursinus community
• Assist with campus, community, and media relations related to fitness center
• Provide a positive and inviting environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• Must have National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and/or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) strength and conditioning coach certified (SCCC)
• Knowledge of current strength and conditioning techniques for a variety of sports
• Experience with oversight/management of a fitness center facility or related facility 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational, delegation and planning ability
• Experience with working with athletic training staff and rehab programs
• Ability to work nights and weekends
