Hardware Engineering is looking for a system hardware validation engineer to develop new hardware test plans, test execution and validation of hardware designed for large scale deployment and integrated use. This ranges from validation of individual systems through that of multiple interconnected systems. This is a highly collaborative position, working cross-functionally with multiple teams on new ways to validate hardware ensuring issues have been captured early in the development life cycle. As a Systems Hardware Validation Engineer, your primary responsibility is to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of system hardware, components, CPUs and associated subsystems. You will specialize in systems validation of modern CPU architecture based technologies for large scale deployments. Your role extends to system-level validation, including workload simulation, low level validation, characterization, margins, RAS, and other system features to ensure systems is serviceable, reliable and meets performance requirements. You will collaborate with design teams, develop and implement validation plans, and validate CPU and subsystem behavior under various workloads. Your expertise in system-level debug and root cause analysis contributes to the reliability and scalability of the system in large scale deployments.
Minimum Qualifications
Key Qualifications
- 8 or more years' experience with modern CPU architectures
- Strong understanding of CPU architecture, microarchitecture, and system design
- Extensive validation experience beyond individual CPUs to the entire platform with deep architectural understanding of server based technology and components such as board, CPU, RAS, memory, storage, networking, high speed link technology
- Large scale validation of individual systems through multi-system qualification comprising multiple interconnected servers focusing on performance, power and inter-connectivity
- Range of validation experience and knowledge in silicon bring-up, firmware, OS & Kernel, drivers, margining, characterization
- Ability to analyze architectural system definitions to drive test planning, design and analysis for full traceability from requirements to test artifacts
- Understanding the nature of production workloads typically run by SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) teams such as that of block storage, object storage, compute, and databases
- Analyze the interaction between applications and subsystem devices
- Experience with validation automation and implementation
- Understanding of object oriented programming, data structures, algorithms with experience in Python, C and/or Shell scripting
- Experience with protocol analyzers. Oscilloscope and signal generators a plus.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
