Process Project Engineer (POG)


POSITION SUMMARY:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for a Tech Services – Process Project Engineer at its refinery located in El Paso, TX. This position is part of an Engineering Technical Ladder with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.

We are seeking a motivated, self-driven, team-oriented Process Engineer to provide technical support for the site and to support new project development and implementation. This includes identifying short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency. This position will be based out of Marathon Petroleum’s El Paso Refinery in El Paso, TX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new capital projects with foresight beyond existing assets.
  • Develop project justification and submittals for annual capital budget.
  • Lead more complex refinery-wide studies.
  • Mentor Unit Support Engineers and support the Tech Service group in TAR activities and unplanned emergencies.
  • Provide troubleshooting and optimization assistance to Tech service engineers and Area Teams.
  • Participates in identification of short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency. Conducts process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software.
  • Travel up to 20%.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or above) in chemical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 years of post-degree engineering experience in a refinery or chemical plant with some project experience.
  • Proficiencies: Process simulation (HYSIS, PetroSim, etc), technical writing, PSM knowledge, and an understanding of refinery economics and project justification
