Scrum Master (Remote)
Location:
Remote (Must be available during business hours at Maxwell AFB, Gunter Annex, Montgomery, AL)
Job Summary:
Are you an experienced Scrum Master with a passion for guiding Agile teams to success? We're looking for a Scrum Master to lead multiple teams in supporting the operation and maintenance of critical enterprise-level Air Force systems. In this role, you'll help drive projects forward by overseeing development, managing risks, and collaborating closely with product owners, scrum teams, capability delivery managers, and program managers.
Responsibilities:
- Foster a culture of Agile values and principles within the team
- Create and maintain a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Partner with the Agile Coach to provide feedback and encourage continuous improvement
- Plan and facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews/retrospectives
- Manage and update the backlog and in-progress items to reflect the latest work status
- Track and report team metrics and project statuses regularly
- Proactively resolve issues and blockers to keep the project on track
- Coordinate with other DevOps and teams to manage inter-dependencies
- Oversee release management, including regression testing, adherence to SDLC artifacts, and deployment support
Required Abilities/Experience:
- Proven experience with Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or similar
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Scrum Master
- Ability to anticipate and address potential problems with minimal impact
- Skilled at managing the needs of multiple stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Understanding of system flows, interfaces, and infrastructure
- Track record of identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities
- Experience with backlog management and status tracking
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, MS Project, Visio, Word, PowerPoint)
Desired Abilities/Experience:
- Scrum Master certifications (CSM/PSM/SSM)
- Project Management certifications (PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-DASM, PMI-DASSM, PMI-DAC)
- Experience with SAFe frameworks (SA, RTE, SSM)
- 8+ years in a Scrum Master role within Software Development
- Proven ability to manage multiple development teams
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., JIRA, ADO, Confluence)
- Previous experience as a software developer is highly preferred
- Experience with Cloud Technologies is a plus
- Effective facilitation skills with an emphasis on active listening, neutrality, and inclusivity
- Strong advocate for continuous improvement with excellent communication and collaboration skills
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma with 8 years of IT experience
- Associate's Degree with 6 years of IT experience
- Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of IT experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
