IUSM-EVANSVILLE (IN-MEDE-IUINA)

The IU School of Medicine-Evansville is located in downtown Evansville at the Stone Family Center for Health Sciences. This facility includes a 30,000 square foot simulation center including a large human structures lab, virtual hospital and twelve-room virtual clinic.

The Simulation Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the simulation center and designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based training for healthcare professionals.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the simulation center including scheduling, equipment setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinates logistics for simulation sessions, ensuring efficient operation and use of resources.
  • Manages maintenance and inventory of simulation equipment and supplies.
  • Develops and implements operational policies in line with IU and IUSM to ensure safety and effectiveness of the simulation environment.
  • Assists in budget management and financial planning with Simulation Director and Business Manager.
  • May provide guidance to lower-level staff.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers simulation-based education that aligns with the needs of healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitates simulation training sessions using a variety of tools including manikins, virtual reality, and task trainers.
  • Assesses learner performance and provide feedback to promote skill improvement and professional growth.
  • Collaborates with clinical experts and educators to integrate relevant, scenario-based learning experiences.
  • Contributes to research and scholarly activities related to simulation-based education.


General Responsibilities

  • Identifies areas for programmatic improvement and develops and implements initiatives to address weaknesses.
  • Establishes program-specific policies and procedures for candidate recruitment.
  • Acts as a liaison between internal and external constituents; develops and manages external relationships with medical community.
  • Creates research opportunities and tracks progress ensuring learning opportunities for students and residents.
  • Responsible for logistics of the student and resident program. Counsels residents concerning board requirements, adjusting schedules to meet requirements.
  • Constructs action plans and puts in place processes for managing performance expectations in the unit based on goals and deadlines.
  • Ensures the maintenance of all relevant program accreditations.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in medical education or related field.


Required

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years in related field.


Preferred

  • Experience in a clinical or educational setting, with specific experience in medical simulation.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around a fast-paced office environment and the campus. Evansville, Indiana

$55,000 - $64,000 per year based on experience.
