Job Description

The successful candidate will have some experience in mortgage processing, mortgage lending, or real estate transactions, and a well-rounded skill set that includes customer service, analysis, and detailed research. Responsibilities:
• Examine and verify the accuracy of documentation such as public records, deeds, property title records, property ownership, leases, surveys, contracts, and agreements needed to produce a clear title
• Collaborate with title examiner and underwriter to prepare title insurance policy and binders and title commitments, and with loan closer to prepare HUD-1 real estate settlement statements
• Coordinate with loan officer, mortgage loan processor, and underwriter to ensure all closing instructions are followed as per the closing package, and all underwriting commitments have been satisfied
• Provide title officers with clerical and data entry support, as well as administrative assistant essential duties
• Liaise with pre-processor to be sure all items are complete, settlement processor or paralegal to ensure all settlement figures are correct, and with the post-closing agent to ensure the transaction is recorded and any outstanding issues are resolved
• Work directly in our Software system to import Title Commitments and searches from the Underwriter
• Review Title Commitments and search for judgments or other possible items that would need to be resolved prior to settlement, such as Estate Documents, Marriage Licenses, Corporate documents, etc.
• Advise Realtors, Lenders, and Individual Parties as to requirements to clear Title in order to proceed with settlement
• Gather all documents and information required to process and clear Title
• Contacting different municipalities to obtain tax and utility certifications and payoffs
• Request client information for domestic lien and bankruptcy searches
• Must be able to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel
Qualifications:
• Proficient computer skills with numerous programs including MS Office is vital
• College is an asset but not required; high school diploma or equivalent is a requirement
• Years of experience (1-3) with real estate transactions or title processing, or as a title company pre-processor or mortgage loan processor is essential
• A notary public certification is not imperative, but is a bonus
• Excellent research, communications, customer service, and analysis skills are needed
• Must be familiar with Software Select
